You know that horrible feeling you get when you’re about to throw up, that feeling that makes your stomach churn, leaving you irritated, uneasy, weak and sometimes dizzy? That’s nausea. We mostly experience nausea due to illness, motion sickness (travelling either by air, land or water), indigestion, irritation, post-surgery effects and pregnancy. Pregnant women are prone to high level of nausea because of increased odour sensitivity, high human chorionic gonadotropin level (hcG), increased estrogen and progesterone levels, etc. This can be very embarrassing and most times, we just ignore it and end up vomiting. There are quick ways to relieve this annoying feeling. They have worked for me, I hope it works for you too!
This technique entails putting pressure in some parts of the body to relieve nauseous feelings. Whenever you feel nauseous, use your thumb and index finger to put pressure on the groove between the two tendons few breadths below your wrist. Do this for about 3 to 5 minutes. It is quite effective and can be done at any point in time.
Peppermint also relieves nausea a great deal. Take two or three peppermint sweets and you’d feel better in minutes. Also, peppermint oil can be consumed orally in food supplements for this purpose.
Ginger is known to have calming effects on the body system. When nauseated, you can either eat ginger in its raw state, or drink tea made from ginger. Ginger helps to release enzymes that relaxes and returns the body to its normal state.
