Most iOS device owners running iOS 7 have no idea they can actually undock their keyboards and even split it for better typing comfort in certain scenarios. This is especially useful for iPad users who simply can not stand how large the keyboard is and typing gets a bit… Problematic.
The undock/split process can be complete in less than 10 seconds really and it’s completely stable yet aesthetically pleasing.
All you have to do is call up your keyboard on any screen on your iPhone/iPad and hold down the close keyboard button at the extreme right corner of the keyboard. The options to undock/split will show up. You can take a better look in the image below.
The “close keyboard” button is the one that looks like a keyboard with the down arrow below it in the extreme right bottom corner. All you have to do is hold it down for a second or two to reveal the options. Without releasing it slide your fingers up to undock if you intend to undock like we did above or slide your finger to split like in the sample image below.
Simply repeat the process to undo this, you dock the keyboard right back or un-split it as you see fit. Hope this tutorial was quick and painless? That was our intention. Takes you all of 3 seconds to do and undo this.
